Stealing

Rogue · Skill guide

Attempt permitted thefts and practise with a weighted training bag. Maximum skill: 100; useful alongside Snooping.

Summary

  • Use: Use Stealing on a valid item or your Weighted Stealing Practice Bag; stay on foot with both hands empty.
  • The practice bag gives no loot and causes no criminal theft.
  • Actual player theft needs Thieves Guild membership and obeys item and region protections.

Training

Set Stealing to Up ↑ and leave room under your 720 total skill cap.

Stealing recommended training route
Skill Range Recommended Activity
0–50 Buy an optional lesson from a Thief Guildmaster for 300 gold; it raises this skill directly to 50.0.
50–100 Use your Weighted Stealing Practice Bag and select heavier grades as you improve. Keep it in your backpack outside training regions.

Right-click the teacher NPC, select the skill’s training entry, then give 300 gold. You need a skill cap of at least 50 and room for the entire lesson under your total cap.

Mechanics & Scaling

Weight, target, ownership, criminal and region rules govern success. Private player houses remain completely outside the burglary system. Dungeon-cache claims work only after a managed cache is solved and opened, only in real dungeons on PvP facets, last two hours and allow one claimed cache per owner.

Additional rules & notes

  • A protected or overweight item can still be impossible to steal.

Location & Instructors

  • Trainer NPC: Thief Guildmaster to 50.0.
  • Academy: Practice only where stealing is explicitly enabled.
