Community Policy
Code of Honor, Sportsmanship & Player Safety
Ironveil thrives on high-stakes conflict, cutthroat politics, and player-driven consequences. We welcome fierce rivalry, but demand baseline human decency outside character boundaries.
1. The Ironveil Code of Honor
The balance between ruthless in-game conflict and out-of-game respect
Ironveil is an old-school sandbox MMORPG featuring full-loot player killing, high-stakes guild warfare, and deep faction rivalries. These mechanics are designed to be thrilling, tense, and punishing.
The Golden Rule: Hate the character, never hate the person behind the screen. An assassin, thief, or ruthless pirate is playing a legitimate role in the world; personal attacks, real-world insults, and targeted harassment against the actual player behind the avatar are strictly forbidden.
2. Communication & Chat Standards
Prohibited language and behavioral baselines across all platforms
General In-Game & Discord Etiquette
- Spam & Flood: Flooding global channels, guild recruiting spam, or excessive ASCII art that degrades communication is prohibited.
- Naming Policy: Character names, guild names, vendor titles, and pet names must not contain offensive slurs, sexually explicit terms, or impersonate shard staff members.
3. PvP Sportsmanship vs. Griefing
Understanding valid gameplay versus malicious harassment
PERMITTED GAMEPLAY
- Ambushing players in Felucca, dungeons, or open wilderness.
- Stealing items through the Snooping & Stealing skills.
- Pillage, house looting via unlocked doors or forgotten keys.
- Engaging in full-loot faction or guild warfare battles.
PROHIBITED GRIEFING
- Persistent target harassment across unrelated characters to drive a player off the shard.
- Exploiting dungeon resurrection shrines to immediately kill freshly spawned ghosts.
- Blocking dungeon entrances or town exits using non-targetable invulnerable quest NPCs.
- Luring monsters to town banks using unintended exploit vectors.
4. Guild Rivalries & Political Etiquette
Standards for guild wars, city sieges, and alliances
Guild warfare is the lifeblood of Ironveil. Guild leaders and members must honor established war declarations and avoid metagaming abuse:
- War Terms: Guild wars accepted in good faith should be fought on the battlefield. Fabricating dummy guilds to manipulate faction scores or kill ranks is considered game manipulation.
- Mercenary & Town Infiltration: Espionage, infiltration, and political intrigue are allowed within game mechanics, provided no account sharing or credential theft is involved.
5. Content Creation & Streamer Etiquette
Broadcasting from the shard and stream-sniping policies
We actively encourage streaming, YouTube content creation, and community highlights from the Ironveil world:
- Stream Sniping: Intentionally utilizing live broadcasts to gain unearned spatial intelligence and repeatedly hunt streamers is strongly discouraged. Streamers are advised to implement delay overlays when operating in dangerous wilderness.
- Community Representation: Streamers who represent the Ironveil community on Twitch, YouTube, or Kick must uphold our communication standards during public broadcasts.
6. Staff Conduct & Reporting Channel
How to report violations and interact with Game Masters
Ironveil Game Masters (GMs) and Administrators are dedicated volunteers who strive to keep the shard stable, fair, and fun for all players.
- Submitting Reports: If you observe a policy violation, gather evidence (screenshots, combat logs, video clips) and open a ticket on Discord. Public shaming or flaming in general chat will not expedite an investigation.
- Staff Respect: Disparaging staff, claiming administrative bias without evidence, or harassing team members in private messages is grounds for disciplinary action.
- Impartiality: Staff characters participating as regular players are strictly barred from utilizing administrative commands or inside knowledge to benefit themselves or their guilds.
