Resisting Spells

Combat · Skill guide

Help resist hostile magic and its effects. Maximum skill: 100; useful alongside Magery for practice.

Summary

  • Use: Keep the skill set to Up while receiving magical attacks that perform a resistance check.
  • No active skill button is needed.
  • 100 skill does not mean immunity, and different spells have different resistance rules.
  • Resisting Spells stops at 100; it has no active Power Scroll.

Training

Set Resisting Spells to Up ↑ and leave room under your 720 total skill cap.

Resisting Spells recommended training route
Skill Range Recommended Activity
0–50 Buy an optional lesson from a Mage for 300 gold; it raises this skill directly to 50.0.
50–80 Cast at Academy magic crystals to receive their harmless resistance-training pulses.
80–100 Receive eligible hostile spells, such as Magic Arrow from a practice partner; heal between attempts.

Right-click the teacher NPC, select the skill’s training entry, then give 300 gold. You need a skill cap of at least 50 and room for the entire lesson under your total cap.

Mechanics & Scaling

The exact result depends on the incoming spell and its resist calculation, not a single flat reduction. In PvP only, real skill from 80 to 100 follows a steeper resistance-power curve so Grandmaster 100 provides the intended maximum effectiveness. Native and PvE interactions remain separate.

Additional rules & notes

  • Use a permitted practice location; move outside town if city aggression rules block the spell.

Location & Instructors

  • Trainer NPC: Mage NPC to 50.0.
  • Academy: Receive qualifying resistance-training attacks to 80.0.
